POSITION SUMMARY

Primary responsibilities are Pastoral Care, Liturgy and Chapel Coordination for The Village at Incarnate Word. Coordinating and providing quality liturgical experiences which celebrate and strengthen the community's journey of faith. Works to help achieve organizational goals while enhancing the image of The Village at Incarnate Word to residents, coworkers, and the public. Works closely with the Chaplain and Mission Integration Director to provide pastoral care for residents. This position requires weekend hours, especially on Sundays.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Experience or training in Sacramental Theology, Scripture, Pastoral Studies, Music or a related field. Senior living and/or healthcare experience preferred along with strong organizational, computer and clerical skills as required. Ability to provide leadership in a collaborative model; communicate effectively in oral and written forms; plan, organize and delegate; interact effectively with a diverse group of people, including various ethnic, cultural and socioeconomic groups; follow through with assigned tasks; motivate people; direct and/or coordinate musically as duties may require. A Catholic in good standing. Related education and experience are necessary to perform basic liturgical coordination responsibilities. This requirement is commonly met with a bachelor's degree and attendance at workshops on liturgical and related subjects. Parish experience preferred.

LITURGY COORDINATOR RESPONSIBILITIES

• Provides leadership and assistance to the liturgy teams and committee and its various meetings.
• Coordinates all persons involved in liturgical ministries, presiders, lectors, special ministers of the Eucharist, servers, musicians, sacristans, ushers, etc.
• Prepares payment of priests and musician.
• Oversees the aesthetic decor and cleanliness of the worship space, the provision of sacred vessels and vestments, the maintenance of an effective sound system, the purchase of missalettes, homily helps and other resources.
• Invites, motivates, and trains and coordinates the scheduling of all liturgical ministers.
• Coordinates development of the liturgical spirit of our community and fosters an atmosphere of hospitality and harmony.
• Serves as leader of prayer when appropriate
• Is visibly present to residents at principal events and is attuned to the living faith and real concerns of residents, families, staff, and visitors.
• Coordinates in collaboration with the Chaplain the formation and implementation of policies and guidelines concerning liturgy.
• Directs the Community worship program, including the planning of liturgical seasons, sacramental celebrations and the liturgical calendar in collaboration with the Chaplain . Works closely with the musician to choose the songs that pertain to the week's theme.
• Prepares all Liturgies and music for Sundays, Holy Days, Feast Days, Christmas Season, Lenten Season, the Triduum, and Funeral Masses or Memorials for Residents, if requested.
• Prepare and post all signs for the main bulletin board and six elevators for Sundays, Holy Days, and Feast Day Masses, Confessions, Anointing, change of Mass time, and anything pertaining to the liturgy.

EDUCATION RESPONSIBILITES

• Provides for the initial and ongoing formation of liturgical ministers as well as liturgy teams and committees.
• Keeps abreast of developments in sacramental theology, Canon Law, liturgical practice and diocesan policies and guidelines; updates the community on these matters.
• Is involved in ecumenical cluster and diocesan networks and fosters good public relations both within and outside our community.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assist Resident Services activities when needed and able.
• Assist with organization-wide events such as Incarnate Word Day, Fiesta at The Village, the Spirit of Service Award Luncheon, holidays, and other special events, as assigned.
• Encourages, in collaboration with staff, a climate of growth and freedom for all residents recognizing daily life needs.
• Other duties as assigned.
• Duties may be changed, added, or removed based on needs of the organizations and departments.
