Founded in 1998, Mystic Valley Regional Charter School (MVRCS) in Malden, MA serves more than 1,800 students in Kindergarten through Grade 12.

Students in Grades K-12 attend school in dress code for 200 instructional days each year. Job Summary

Mystic Valley Regional Charter School is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated K-8 Physical Education Teacher to join our team.

The Physical Education Teacher is responsible for planning and delivering engaging, age-appropriate instruction that promotes physical fitness, skill development, teamwork, sportsmanship, and healthy habits. The teacher will create a structured and positive learning environment while supporting students across a wide range of ages and abilities.

The successful candidate will collaborate with fellow teachers, school leadership, families, and other professionals to support student development and contribute to the broader MVRCS school community.

Responsibilities

Plan and deliver engaging, developmentally appropriate physical education instruction for students in Grades K-8.

Implement the school's designated physical education curriculum with fidelity.

Teach and reinforce fundamental movement skills, physical fitness, teamwork, sportsmanship, and healthy habits.

Maintain a safe, structured, positive, and inclusive learning environment.

Establish clear expectations and effectively manage student behavior during physical education classes and activities.

Monitor, assess, and document student participation, skill development, and progress.

Adapt instruction and activities to meet the varying needs and abilities of students.

Participate in all required professional development and training.

Attend and participate in grade-level team meetings, Teacher Assistance Team (TAT) meetings, and staff meetings.

Participate in IEP meetings when necessary and implement required accommodations and modifications.

Collaborate with teachers and school leadership regarding student progress, curriculum, and individual student needs.

Complete required progress reports, report cards, and student grades throughout the school year.

Attend and conduct four parent-teacher conferences each school year—two in the fall and two in the spring.

Attend Back-to-School Night, open houses, and other required school events.

Participate in assigned morning, lunch/recess, and afternoon duties.

Properly maintain and organize physical education equipment and instructional materials.

Support, enforce, and adhere to all MVRCS policies and procedures.

Perform additional duties as assigned by school leadership.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree required.

Experience in physical education, athletics, coaching, recreation, or other organized youth activities preferred.

Strong classroom and behavior management skills.

Ability to effectively engage and instruct students across Grades K-8.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, administrators, families, and other members of the school community.

Commitment to creating a safe, structured, and positive environment for all students.

Successful completion of applicable MTEL requirements within one year of employment.
