Minimum Qualifications:

Current teaching certificate issued by the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE), OR meet the eligibility requirements for, and be willing to obtain, a Missouri DESE Teaching Certificate. What you'll do: This position will have oversight of the testing room and administer several academic and vocational standardized tests. Teach subject matter to adult offenders appropriate to educational background and certification by the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education Adhere to the state-approved course of study while using ingenuity and flexibility to adapt to fit the needs/abilities/conditions of pupils Plans/outlines classwork within prescribed limits; prepares materials for special study As part of the teaching team: develops/implements/evaluates plans; participates in teacher conferences/meetings/educational research projects; maintains scholastic/attendance records; orders supplies Confers with students regarding needs/progress/abilities and provides instruction and encouragement as needed Receives general supervision from Education Supervisor or designated administrator. Performs other related work as assigned. Job Details - More reasons to love this position Contingent upon your position, you may also be eligible to receive: A $2.00 per hour shift differential if you are assigned to a shift that begins on or between 12:00pm (noon) and 5:00am and are employed at a 24/7 congregate care facility (i.e. institution, transition center, supervision center, or command center). A $1.00 per hour restrictive housing differential if you are assigned a regular post within a restrict housing/segregation unit at any facility. The Department of Corrections currently offers a guaranteed 1% pay increase for every two years of continuous service up to 20 years! If you are transferring from another State of Missouri agency and are receiving state retention pay, please be advised that the Missouri Department of Corrections administers retention based upon your retention anniversary date. As a result, your retention pay upon transfer may differ from what you were receiving at your previous agency until you reach your applicable retention anniversary date.
