Job Description

The School of Applied and Engineering Physics (AEP) at Cornell University seeks applications for a tenure-track Assistant or Associate Professors. Candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to develop a highly successful and internationally recognized independent research program and to participate effectively in the teaching of our core physics curriculum at the advanced undergraduate level. Research areas of interest include biophysics and biotechnology, optics and photonics, nanoscience and nanotechnology, novel instrumentation methods, quantum information science and technology, new energy technologies, and materials physics. Applicants could approach these areas from experimental or theoretical perspectives including computational or machine learning. The successful applicant can expect a highly competitive level of support for the start-up of their research program. Considerable institutional resources at Cornell can strengthen this research program and support interdisciplinary and collaborative research ventures. While postdoctoral experience is considered to be essential for Assistant Professor applicants, we also encourage applications from candidates nearing the completion of their PhD, in addition to candidates that have postdoctoral experience. The department can provide additional support in the form of a bridging fellowship for postdoctoral training before the start of the faculty position. Pay Ranges:
$83,200 - $226,200 The hiring rate of pay for the successful candidate will be determined considering the following criteria: Prior relevant work or industry experience.
