Shining Mountains Montessori School is seeking a dynamic and experienced Substitute School Director to join our educational leadership team when our Leadership needs a day off. As a Colorado Shines Level 4 program, we are committed to providing exceptional early childhood education while supporting the families and workforce needs of Chaffee County.

Schedule:

School Year (2026-2027) Typical hours fall between 8:00 AM and 4:30 PM, Monday-Friday On-call substitute role

Responsibilities:

Step into a leadership role as needed, providing immediate oversight and support to staff, students, and families Supervise and engage children ages 2.5-6 years in classroom and outdoor environments Support Montessori Guides in maintaining a prepared learning environment Assist with daily classroom routines, transitions, meals, and outdoor activities Foster positive social interactions and respectful behavior Ensure the safety and well-being of all children Follow school policies, licensing regulations, and health and safety procedures Communicate professionally with staff and families Maintain confidentiality regarding children, families, and school operations

Preferred Qualifications:

Proven experience in school leadership role. Experience working with young children in a childcare, preschool, camp, or educational setting in a leadership capactiy. Interest in Montessori philosophy and child-centered education Strong communication and teamwork skills Ability to adapt to different classroom environments Dependable, punctual, and professional Ability to work both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions

Required Qualifications:

Large Center Director Certification (PDIS) Must be at least 18 years of age Ability to pass required background checks and Colorado licensing requirements Ability to lift up to 30 pounds and actively engage with young children throughout the day Preferred Certifications (Not Required): Early Childhood Education coursework Colorado Early Childhood Professional Credential Montessori training or experience Pediatric First Aid and CPR Certification Join us in this energetic role where your leadership will directly impact the success of our school!
