Position Summary The Center Director is responsible for the overall leadership, administration, and daily operations of the child care center. The Center Director sets the tone and culture of the facility while ensuring high-quality care, regulatory compliance, financial stewardship, staff development, and positive family engagement. Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesCurriculum Development Collaborate with the Assistant Director and qualified staff to develop and implement age-appropriate curriculum. Ensure curriculum aligns with state and federal requirements. Monitor program quality and support continuous improvement. Facility Management Ensure a safe, clean, and nurturing environment. Maintain compliance with all applicable regulations. Ensure compliance with KDHE, Fire Marshal, CACFP, and related requirements. Evaluate and approve purchases of equipment and supplies. Staff Leadership and Management Recruit, hire, onboard, and retain staff. Conduct orientation, coaching, and evaluations. Support staff development and training. Manage employee relations and disciplinary processes. Verify qualifications, certifications, and background checks. Conduct monthly staff meetings. Attend scheduled Board meetings. Develop weekly schedules and maintain required staff-to-child ratios. Family Engagement and Communication In conjunction with Board, Director helps develop policies for the Center and effectively communicates policies to parents. Meet with prospective families and support enrollment. Build positive relationships with parents and guardians. Develop marketing, public relations and advertising campaigns as necessary. Financial Management Develop and manage budgets with the Board Treasurer. Perform accounts receivable and accounts payable functions. Purchase weekly supplies and nourishment in accordance with CACFP procedures. Administrative and Regulatory Responsibilities Maintain staff and child records. Manage CACFP documentation and reporting. Maintain billing and payment records. Prepare required reports and year-end statements. QualificationsRequired Must be 18 years of age and have a high school diploma or equivalent. Must meet qualifications as outlined in
KDHE KAR 28-4-429
(c)(3) Strong verbal and written communication skills. Must clear the mandatory Kansas comprehensive background check and fingerprinting process. Hire, train and manage staff. Strong organizational, leadership, and problem-solving abilities. Ability to build and maintain enrollment. Knowledge of KDHE and all applicable child care regulations and ensure compliance. Preferred Degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or related field. Child Development Associate (CDA) credential.
