Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated and nurturing UPK (Universal Pre-Kindergarten) Teacher to join our early childhood education team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for creating a safe, engaging, and developmentally appropriate environment that supports the intellectual, emotional, social, and physical growth of young children. This role involves developing and implementing comprehensive programs, fostering positive relationships among children, families, and staff, and ensuring adherence to preschool policies. The UPK Teacher will play a vital role in shaping the foundational learning experiences of our preschoolers. Responsibilities Develop and implement a comprehensive program that addresses the diverse needs of all children in the group, focusing on their intellectual, emotional, social, and physical development while complying with all OCFS regulations and guidelines. Establish and maintain a nurturing environment that encourages healthy relationships among staff, volunteers, children, and families. Follow all policies and procedures outlined by Zion Covenant Preschool to ensure compliance and safety. Address any conflicts or issues within the program directly with a solution-oriented approach, collaborating effectively with parents, staff, or co-workers. Conduct orientations for families to foster strong partnerships and ensure they are informed about program expectations and resources. Conduct regular child conferences to monitor progress, discuss developmental milestones, and tailor activities to support individual growth. Maintain and timely complete all required paperwork. Qualifications Prior experience working with preschool-aged children in an educational or childcare setting is preferred. Strong understanding of early childhood development principles. Excellent communication skills for engaging with children, parents, and team members. Ability to create a positive and inclusive learning environment that promotes healthy relationships. Knowledge of preschool policies and safety procedures. Certification or training in early childhood education or Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or related field with plan of study to obtain a teaching certificate within the next five years.
