Job Description

SPRINGDALE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

Qualified applicant must be at least twenty-one (21) years of age and have:

Graduated from an accredited four (4) year college or be a Registered Nurse with less than a four (4) year degree and one (1) year of full-time experience with children in a group setting; or

Thirty-six (36) hours of coursework, at least thirty (30) of which shall be in business management, child or youth development, early childhood education or a closely related field or a TN Early Childhood Administrator Credential; and two (2) years of full-time experience with children in a group setting; or

High school diploma (or equivalent as recognized by state law) and Tennessee Early Childhood Training Alliance Certificate for thirty (30) clock hours of Administrator Orientation training or the equivalent as recognized by the Department and four (4) years of full-time experience with children in a group; or

Continuously employed as an on-site childcare director or childcare agency owner as of the effective date of the Licensure Rules for Child Care Agencies.

Directors shall complete at least twenty-four (24) hours of professional development, of which at least six (6) hours shall be in Health and Safety and at least three (3) hours shall be in Pre-Literacy and Literacy Skills and Education implementation.

Must be able to communicate correctly and effectively with children, parents, and others involved in the program.

Must possess the math skills necessary to complete bookkeeping duties. The duties of this position include, but are not limited to:

Organizing and participating in a variety of enrichment activities

Monitoring staff and setting clear expectations

Providing leadership and modeling in maintaining appropriate discipline standards

Maintaining assigned records and bank deposits and provides them to the Extended School Program Director on a weekly basis

Supervising parent pick up and drop off of children and verifies that children are dismissed to only those on the authorized pick up list

Following and ensuring the implementation of the Tennessee State Childcare Rules and Regulations

This is a 12-month position with insurance and retirement benefits. Rate of pay will be determined by comparable work experience and placement on Grade 6 of the Hourly Support Salary Schedule. The starting rate of pay will be no less than $16.07 per hour (with no experience).
