Part-Time Program Director The Little Sunshine Academy Position Summary The Part-Time Program Director is responsible for supporting the daily operations of The Little Sunshine Academy while ensuring compliance with Virginia Department of Education licensing regulations. This role provides leadership to staff, maintains a safe and nurturing environment for children, and helps ensure the program operates smoothly and professionally. This position is ideal for an experienced early childhood educator who enjoys mentoring teachers, maintaining high program standards, and building positive relationships with children and families. Employment Status Part-Time Hourly Reports to: Owner & Administrator Primary ResponsibilitiesProgram Leadership Assist with the daily management and operation of the preschool. Ensure classrooms maintain a safe, organized, and nurturing learning environment. Support implementation of developmentally appropriate curriculum and activities. Help maintain consistent classroom routines and positive behavior guidance practices. Licensing & Compliance Ensure compliance with all Virginia Department of Education licensing regulations. Maintain required classroom ratios and supervision standards. Monitor health, safety, sanitation, and emergency preparedness procedures. Assist with maintaining licensing records and required documentation. Support successful licensing inspections and visits. Staff Support Provide guidance, coaching, and support to classroom teachers. Help orient and train new employees. Model professionalism and best practices in early childhood education. Assist with classroom coverage as needed. Family Communication Build positive relationships with families. Address parent questions and concerns professionally. Help maintain open communication regarding children's development and classroom activities. Administrative Duties Assist with attendance records and required documentation. Help maintain children's files and licensing paperwork. Support scheduling and daily classroom operations. Assist with ordering classroom materials and supplies when needed. Classroom Support Step into classrooms as needed to maintain ratios. Assist with meal supervision, transitions, playground supervision, and nap time. Foster a warm, engaging, and inclusive environment for every child. Qualifications Meets Virginia licensing requirements for a Program Director. Experience in early childhood education. Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills. Knowledge of child development and licensing regulations. CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain). Current background check and all licensing requirements completed. Pay:
From $17.00 per hour Application Question(s): Do you have 3 or more years in a childcare position with a program or childcare facility? In your time in childcare do you have at least 1 year of experience in supervising other staff members?
