Job Description

Position Summary:
The Substitute Teacher is a part-time, as-needed position responsible for providing care and supervision to children ages 18 months to 5 years when regular staff members are absent. This position may require short-notice call-ins and does not have a guaranteed or regular schedule. The Substitute Teacher supports classroom routines, activities, and learning experiences while maintaining a safe, nurturing environment in accordance with state licensing and CLASS requirements. Additional duties may include assisting with front desk and kitchen operations as needed
Responsibilities:
Provide active supervision and care for children, ensuring their safety and well-being. Assist classroom teachers with daily routines, learning activities, transitions, meals, toileting, and classroom organization. Support administrative duties as needed, including greeting families, answering phones, and assisting with basic center operations. Assist with kitchen duties as needed, including meal and snack service, cleaning, and maintaining food safety and sanitation standards. Perform other duties deemed necessary by the
Director Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Ability to prepare, present, and review oral and written information. Ability to assist the teacher in implementing developmentally appropriate lesson plans and activities for young children. Demonstrated computer skills, including, but not limited to, Microsoft Office, e-mail, and database management. Strong verbal and written communication skills Ability to work with a diverse student population. Ability to work cooperatively with teachers and other center staff Ability to assist with basic administrative duties and kitchen duties as needed. Ability to quickly adapt to different classrooms, routines, and age groups Ability to work independently and make appropriate decisions when regular staff are absent.
Minimum Requirements:
High school diploma or GED required.
Preferred Requirements:
Two years of experience working with children aged 6 weeks to 5 years in a childcare setting or a
CDA OTHER JOB RELATED EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE MAY BE SUBSTITUTED FOR ALL OR PART OF THESE BASIC REQUIREMENTS, UPON REVIEW OF THE QUALIFICATIONS REVIEW COMMITTEE.
