Overview We are seeking a dedicated Afternoon Assistant/Substitute Aide to support our early childhood education program. This role involves assisting with classroom activities, supervising children, and maintaining a safe and nurturing environment during afternoon hours. The ideal candidate will have a passion for childhood development and be flexible with scheduling to meet the needs of the program. Responsibilities Supervise children during classroom activities, outdoor play, and transitions to ensure safety at all times Support teachers in implementing age-appropriate curriculum and activities aligned with early childhood education principles Communicate effectively with parents regarding children's daily experiences and progress Manage classroom behavior using positive reinforcement techniques to foster a respectful and engaging environment Maintain safety standards by applying first aid and CPR when necessary, following established protocols Assist in creating a welcoming, inclusive atmosphere that promotes childhood development and learning Be flexible with work hours, primarily from 1 pm to 6 pm most days, with on-call availability as needed for coverage or special events Experience Prior experience working with young children in an educational or childcare setting is preferred Must have at least six ECE (Early Childhood Education) units completed; three units should be in infant/toddler care if applicable Knowledge of childhood development stages and best practices in early childhood education is desirable Certification in first aid and CPR is preferred or willingness to obtain upon hire Strong communication skills for parent interactions and team collaboration Ability to supervise children effectively while maintaining a safe environment This position is ideal for individuals passionate about early childhood education who are adaptable, caring, and committed to fostering positive developmental experiences for children.
