For more than 65 years, Lakeside has served many children and families in San Francisco. Our teachers, families, and church community work together to create a warm, nurturing environment where children can learn, grow, and thrive. We are looking for a dependable, experienced preschool teacher who can confidently move between classrooms, adapt to different routines and teaching teams, and provide consistent, high-quality care throughout the school day.

Schedule:

Monday-Friday, 10:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m.

$26-$32 per hour, depending on education and experience

October 5, 2026 About the Position The Floater Teacher works across our four preschool classrooms and Extended Care Program. This teacher provides scheduled staff breaks, fills in during planned and unexpected absences, supports classrooms as needed throughout the day, and helps supervise Extended Care through closing. Because this position regularly moves between classrooms, we are seeking an experienced preschool teacher who can quickly learn established routines, step into different classroom environments with confidence, and work independently without extensive direction. Responsibilities Provide scheduled breaks for teachers and staff Fill in during planned and unexpected staff absences Work confidently across multiple preschool classrooms and age groups Follow each classroom's established routines, expectations, and teaching practices Maintain required adult-child ratios and active supervision Support classroom activities, outdoor play, meals, rest time, bathroom routines, and transitions Provide developmentally appropriate behavior guidance Follow health, hygiene, sanitation, and licensing requirements Help children transition into and participate in our Extended Care Program Communicate professionally and warmly with families during afternoon pickup Assist with Brightwheel documentation, classroom preparation, cleaning, and closing procedures Follow school policies and emergency procedures Maintain regular, punctual, and dependable attendance Assist with other duties as needed to support the school and teaching team Minimum Qualifications At least 24 Early Childhood Education or Child Development units California Child Development Teacher Permit or higher preferred At least three years of direct experience in licensed preschool classrooms Experience working with children ages 2.5-5 Ability to work independently and adapt quickly to different classrooms and teaching teams Strong classroom management, communication, and teamwork skills Consistent work history and strong professional references LiveScan fingerprint clearance and current TB clearance Ability to complete and maintain required health and safety training, including CPR/First Aid, EpiPen, Mandated Reporter, Pesticides, and Sexual Harassment training Ability to regularly stand, sit, walk, kneel, bend, squat, run, climb, and lift or carry up to 50 pounds Benefits 100% employer-sponsored health care (Kaiser) Paid vacation Paid holidays Paid sick time Tuition reimbursement Child care discount Professional development opportunities How to Apply Please email a résumé and brief cover letter to .
