Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Preschool Teacher to join our educational team at Central Methodist Nursery School. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of childhood development and early childhood education principles, with the ability to create a nurturing and stimulating environment for young learners. This role involves planning and implementing engaging lessons that promote social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development in preschool-aged children.
Responsibilities:
A. Represent CMNS in a consistently professional manner while building and maintaining working relationships with colleagues, clients, and members of the community. B. Supervise children at all times to ensure a safe environment according to Licensing Title 22 regulations, and Cal OSHA Guidelines (SB198). C. Keep accurate emergency information and authorizations for treatment of all children, including emergency procedures and implementing the center's plan for medical and disaster-related emergencies. D. Lead the planning of daily activities. Plan and implement quality lesson plans that are age and developmentally appropriate for each child (physical, social, emotional, intellectual, health, and nutritional). E. Curate activities that cultivate children's social-emotional growth and foster positive learning behaviors. F. Implement a consistent daily schedule, predictable routines, and smooth transitions to maintain the educational flow from one activity to the next. G. Collaborate with the teaching team to ensure a balance of child-directed and adult-directed activities, as well as opportunities for independent work and experiences in both small and large group settings, are provided daily. H. Develop and facilitate meaningful learning experiences that meet the needs of the child as an individual including treating each child with dignity and respect. I. Implement the Helping Parent program (parent volunteers in the classroom) through planning and supervising the helping parent's involvement in classroom activities. J. Keep ongoing observations notes on the children in the class. K. Maintain a well-organized and clean working environment that supports routines and experiences. This includes keeping the classroom, outdoor spaces, and common areas tidy, safe, and visually appealing, such as the bulletin board, cupboards, and hallways. L. Prepare and participate in formal and informal parent conferences and orientations. M. Maintain an open line of communication with families through daily conversations, email, or phone calls for the purpose of sharing concerns or classroom information. N. Ensure the confidentiality of information pertaining to parents, students, and staff members is strictly upheld. O. Attend monthly staff meetings, parent orientation, open house and other CMNS related functions. P. Complete required health & safety trainings that are a condition of employment and applicable certifications are renewed prior to due dates.
Education:
Required:
A minimum of 12 units in Child Development or closely related field.
Preferred:
An associate's degree or higher in Child Development, Early Childhood Education, or closely related field
Experience:
Required:
At least six months of relevant experience working with children ages 2 to 5 and their families in a preschool or childcare setting.
Preferred:
A minimum of 1 year experience as a lead teacher in a preschool environment, demonstrating effective classroom management and instruction skills.
Condition of Employment:
Background Clearance:
employment with the Central Methodist Nursery School requires a clearance from the DOJ/FBI.
Immunizations:
the employee is required to provide proof of immunizations records for MMR, Tdap, Influenza, TB Clearance.
Mandated Reporter Training:
Employees in this position qualify as Mandated Reporters and are required to report any suspicion of child abuse or neglect to relevant authorities. General mandated reporter training must be successfully completed within the first 90 days of employment and renewed annually.
