Child Care (Respite Care) Provider Parenting Network Visalia Family Resource Center - 1.0 Visalia, CA Job Details Part-time $17.00 - $18.50 an hour 5 hours ago Benefits Mileage reimbursement Paid time off Flexible schedule Paid sick time Qualifications High school diploma or GED Driver's License Child safety supervision Cleaning Sports Childhood developmental milestones Full Job Description Respite Care Workers provide short term respite care (child care services) for resource parents, relative care takers, and biological parents in Family Reunification, Voluntary Family Maintenance or Family Maintenance to allow them to participate in activities such as Resource Parent Association meetings/events/trainings or court ordered case plan services. Services are also offered to allow them an opportunity to rejuvenate so their families can remain strong. Respite Care Workers will assist parents and guardians by caring for children, maintaining their hygiene, monitoring them for health, behavioral, and emotional concerns, providing them with age-appropriate instruction, and working with parents and guardians to ensure that children are learning and socializing in a positive way. They may also assist with sterilizing toys and play areas and other duties to ensure that the children are in a safe, engaging, and clean environment. Respite Care Program is county eide and operates Monday-Saturday from 8am-8pm. Mileage and travel time are paid for assignments outside of the Visalia City limits. Essential Functions Providing care for children, such as grooming, feeding, changing diapers. Developing and encouraging age-appropriate learning and socialization to ensure children learn basic skills and concepts, such as communication, manners, sharing, etc. Maintaining a safe workplace by monitoring children for health, behavioral, and emotional issues and reporting concerns to supervisor and parents. Helping children discover new interests by introducing them to art, music, sports, and other potential hobbies. Ensuring children are learning positive behaviors and providing guidance or approved discipline, as needed. Keeping records relating to child care. Working with parents to help children progress towards educational and behavioral goals.
- Ability to maintain confidentially
- Complete reports of abuse to Child Welfare Services when necessary
- Willingness and ability to travel to various homes throughout Tulare County
- Must be able to maintain professional boundaries
- Excellent communication skills, written and verbal
- Ability to work with others and as part of a team
- Attend additional trainings as required
- Maintain positive and respectful attitude
- Sanitize toys and play equipment.
- Other duties as assigned Qualifications 18+ years and a High school diploma or equivalent 3+ years in the Child Care industry A list of 5 verifiable references Knowledge of the stages of childhood development.
