The ideal candidate will create a nurturing and stimulating environment that fosters the social, emotional, and cognitive development of young children. This role involves planning and implementing engaging activities that promote learning through play while ensuring the safety and well-being of all students. Montessori Academy of West Covina is seeking a caring, energetic, and dedicated Infant/Toddler Teacher to join our early childhood education team. The ideal candidate will provide a safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate environment that supports the physical, social, emotional, and cognitive growth of infants and toddlers. The successful candidate must have a genuine love for working with young children, the ability to build positive relationships with families, and a commitment to maintaining a high-quality early learning environment. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Provide attentive and responsive care to infants and toddlers. Supervise children at all times to ensure their health and safety. Perform diaper changing and toileting routines in accordance with California Community Care Licensing regulations and universal health precautions. Maintain accurate diapering, feeding, and daily activity records. Feed infants and toddlers according to individual schedules and developmental needs. Prepare and sanitize bottles, eating utensils, and feeding areas. Assist with naps and maintain appropriate sleep supervision practices. Create and implement age-appropriate activities that promote learning and development. Support language, social-emotional, sensory, and motor skill development through daily interactions and play. Maintain a clean, organized, and engaging classroom environment. Sanitize toys, equipment, changing tables, and classroom materials according to health and safety standards. Observe and document children's development and communicate progress with families. Build positive relationships with parents and provide daily updates regarding their child's care. Work collaboratively with teaching staff and administration. Follow all California licensing regulations, health and safety procedures, and school policies. Participate in staff meetings, professional development, and ongoing training. Qualifications Minimum of 12 Early Childhood Education units , including Infant/Toddler coursework, as required by California licensing. Teacher Permit preferred. Current Pediatric CPR and First Aid Certification or willingness to obtain. Knowledge of child development and developmentally appropriate practices. Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and engage in active play with children. Excellent communication and teamwork skills. Experience working with infants and toddlers preferred.
