Our toddler classroom serves children approximately 12 months and walking through 2½ years old. In this essential role, you will create a safe, engaging and developmentally appropriate environment that promotes curiosity, independence, social-emotional growth and foundational learning skills. Your knowledge of early childhood development and commitment to providing nurturing, responsive care will help establish a strong foundation for each child's continued growth and learning. Mt. Zion Lutheran Preschool is a small, relationship-centered Christian preschool with a collaborative team committed to excellence in early childhood education. Duties Develop and implement age-appropriate curriculum plans that support toddler development, including language, early literacy, sensory exploration, motor skills and social-emotional learning. Create a nurturing classroom environment that encourages exploration, independence and positive interactions. Establish consistent classroom routines and use positive, developmentally appropriate behavior-guidance strategies. Provide direct care and active supervision during playtime, meals, diapering, toileting, handwashing, rest time and daily transitions. Observe and document children's developmental progress, individual needs and important milestones. Communicate regularly and professionally with parents or guardians regarding their child's experiences, development and needs. Maintain accurate attendance, developmental and classroom records in compliance with Colorado licensing requirements. Use Brightwheel to document meals, diapers, classroom activities and other required information. Maintain a clean, safe, organized and welcoming classroom. Follow all mandated-reporting requirements, First Aid procedures, health guidelines and school safety policies. Collaborate with colleagues to plan learning experiences, support individual needs and provide consistency throughout the school day. Support Mt. Zion's Christian learning environment through kindness, prayer and age-appropriate Jesus Time.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
Must be at least 18 years old. Must hold a current Colorado Shines Early Childhood Professional Credential (ECPC) Level 2 or higher or have an active Colorado Early Childhood Teacher qualification through another CDEC-approved pathway. Must provide a current qualification certificate from the "Approved Credentials and Qualifications" section of their Colorado Shines PDIS account. Previous experience working with toddlers in a licensed childcare, preschool or early childhood education setting is required. Strong knowledge of child-development principles specific to infants and toddlers. Experience with curriculum development, lesson planning and classroom-management techniques for young children. Knowledge of positive-guidance practices that promote healthy behavior and social-emotional development. Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with children, families, colleagues and school leadership. Excellent organizational skills for maintaining classroom records and meeting Colorado licensing requirements. Current First Aid and CPR certification or willingness to obtain certification before beginning independent classroom responsibilities. Ability to complete all required Colorado background checks and licensing training. Ability to sit on the floor, move throughout the classroom and playground, and lift or assist young children, with or without reasonable accommodation.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Colorado Shines ECPC Level 3 or higher. At least one year of experience working with children under age three. CDA, associate degree, bachelor's degree or college coursework in early childhood education or a related field. Completion of Expanding Quality in Infant Toddler Care training. Familiarity with inclusive practices and supporting children with diverse developmental needs. Experience using Brightwheel or a similar childcare-management platform.
