Job Description
Job Summary We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Child Care Assistant to join Gifted Academy LLC, a Family Child Care Home in Salida, CO. In this role, you will support the development and well-being of young children across various age groups, from infants to preschoolers (0-6 years old). Unlike large daycare centers, you will work with a very small, intimate group of children in a warm, comfortable, and home-like environment. Our curriculum emphasizes social-emotional learning (SEL) and emotional intelligence. This position offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact while gaining valuable experience in early childhood education. Responsibilities Assist lead teachers in implementing daily activities that promote childhood development, including play, learning, and social interaction. Provide attentive care to children's needs, including feeding, diapering, and comforting as required. Support classroom management by maintaining a clean, organized, and safe environment for children. Engage children in age-appropriate educational activities that stimulate curiosity and learning. Monitor children's behavior and assist in behavior management strategies to encourage positive social skills. Follow all safety protocols and emergency procedures, including first aid when necessary. Collaborate with team members to ensure consistent caregiving practices and effective communication with parents or guardians. Skills & Qualifications Must be at least 18 years old. Must be able to pass a standard background check and fingerprinting as required by Colorado child care licensing. Experience working with young children in daycare, preschool, nannying, babysitting, or classroom settings. Ability to perform first aid and CPR; relevant certifications are a plus (or willingness to obtain upon hiring). Effective communication skills for collaborating with colleagues and engaging with children and families.
