Bridgeport, CT Join Our Team! A Child's World Early Learning Center is seeking an enthusiastic, experienced, and dedicated Lead Preschool Teacher to join our growing team. We are looking for a passionate educator who believes in creating meaningful learning experiences while ensuring the highest standards of safety, supervision, and quality early childhood education. The ideal candidate is knowledgeable in Connecticut early childhood standards, developmentally appropriate practices, and NAEYC Accreditation . This individual will lead a classroom with confidence, collaborate with colleagues and families, and create a nurturing environment where every child can thrive and be included. Position Summary The Lead Teacher is responsible for planning and implementing a high-quality preschool program that promotes children's cognitive, language, social-emotional, physical, and creative development. The Lead Teacher ensures a safe, engaging, and inclusive classroom while maintaining compliance with Connecticut Office of Early Childhood (OEC) Licensing Regulations, NAEYC Accreditation Standards, Connecticut Early Learning and Development Standards (CT ELDS), and Connecticut Documentation and Observation for Teaching System (CT DOTS). Minimum Qualifications Associate's Degree or Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education or a closely related field (required) Connecticut Head Teacher qualifications preferred Minimum of 2 years of classroom experience working with groups of up to 20 preschool children Experience in a licensed early childhood program Knowledge of Connecticut OEC Licensing Regulations Experience with NAEYC Accreditation preferred Working knowledge of CT ELDS and CT DOTS Current CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain) Ability to successfully complete all required background checks Essential Responsibilities Plan and implement engaging, developmentally appropriate lesson plans aligned with CT ELDS . Utilize CT DOTS to document observations, assess children's development, and guide individualized instruction. Create a warm, welcoming, inclusive, and culturally responsive classroom environment. Maintain active supervision and ensure the health, safety, and well-being of all children at all times. Manage a classroom of up to 20 preschool children while maintaining required staff-to-child ratios. Build positive relationships with children, families, and colleagues. Complete developmental assessments, portfolios, and ongoing documentation of children's progress. Support children's social-emotional development using positive guidance and behavior management techniques. Adapt instruction to meet the diverse learning needs of all children, including those with individualized supports. Collaborate with administration, specialists, and families to promote children's success. Maintain organized, engaging learning centers and classroom environments. Ensure classroom compliance with Connecticut Licensing Regulations and NAEYC Accreditation Standards. Participate in staff meetings, professional development, coaching, and continuous quality improvement initiatives. Mentor Assistant Teachers, Teacher Aides, and classroom support staff by modeling best practices and fostering teamwork. Communicate professionally with families through conferences, daily communication, and family engagement opportunities. Maintain accurate attendance records, lesson plans, assessments, and required documentation. Preferred Qualifications Experience with NAEYC Accreditation and continuous quality improvement. Knowledge of Conscious Discipline, Pyramid Model, or other positive behavior support strategies. Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus. Experience working with children from diverse cultural and developmental backgrounds. Strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills. Ability to multitask and work collaboratively in a fast-paced early learning environment.
