Job Summary The Teacher collaborates with the assigned Assistant or co-teacher/s to support the growth and development of children in a safe, healthy, organized and stimulating classroom environment. This position is responsible for implementing approved curriculum and assessment programs in English. Co-teachers implement the curriculum and assessments in Spanish. Essential Functions Follows all health, safety and nutrition guidelines set forth by the Delaware Office of Childcare Licensing, Head Start, Child and Adult Care Food Program and provides guidance to Assistant Teachers regarding the implementation of these regulations in the classroom. Supports children's social and emotional development by: a. Engaging regularly in positive, caring interactions with children. b. Using positive guidance techniques. c. Teaching children self-regulation and problem-solving skills. d. Teaching children how to recognize and talk about emotions. e. Implementing the social-emotional curriculum. Implements the curriculum and assessment system by: a. Writing and implementing weekly lesson plans based on available curriculum resources and children's strengths, needs and interests. b. Changing the classroom environment to reflect the curriculum study and lesson plans. c. Observing children's development and learning and entering regular documentation in Teaching Strategies Gold. d. Assessing children three times a year using Teaching Strategies Gold. e. Reviewing assessment and screening results with parents during parent conferences and home visits and working with parents to plan individual goals for each child based on his/her strengths, needs and interests. f. Individualizing weekly lesson plans to address each child's goal. g. Completing developmental screenings. Maintains a well-organized, developmentally appropriate classroom environment and daily schedule by: a. Keeping learning centers clean, organized and well-stocked with developmentally appropriate materials and regularly rotating materials to reflect the curriculum and children's interests. b. Implementing a daily schedule that is developmentally appropriate and allows for curriculum implementation. c. Planning transitions to avoid wait times. d. Completing classroom recordkeeping in a timely and accurate manner. Maintains positive, collaborative relationships with parents and co-workers by: a. Completing parent conferences and home visits with parents as required. b. Creating opportunities for families to participate in the classroom. c. Communicating with families regularly about what their children are learning. d. Working cooperatively with parents to resolve feeding, toileting, sleeping and behavioral concerns. e. Providing opportunities for parents to work with their children on individual and developmentally appropriate goals in the home. f. Providing positive guidance to Assistant Teacher/s on their role in the classroom. g. Working cooperatively with other teaching staff, as needed. h. Working cooperatively with the Instructional Coach to plan and implement classroom improvements. Performs other duties or special projects as required or as assigned by a supervisor.

Qualifications Education:

National Preschool CDA, Associate degree, or Bachelor's degree in early childhood education preferred, minimum of High School diploma plus TECE 1 and 2 (120 hours early childhood training) required

Language Qualifications:

Bilingual English/Spanish preferred. Must be fluent in English.

Work Experience:

1 year teaching experience preferred

Licenses Required:

DEEDS Early Learning Teacher Credential required.
