Director Position Summary The VPK Lead Teacher is responsible for planning and implementing a high-quality educational program for children enrolled in the Voluntary Prekindergarten (VPK) program. The teacher will create a safe, nurturing, and engaging learning environment that promotes children's social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development while ensuring compliance with Florida VPK standards and licensing requirements. Key Responsibilities Plan and implement developmentally appropriate lessons aligned with Florida Early Learning and Developmental Standards. Prepare weekly lesson plans and classroom activities that support kindergarten readiness. Foster a positive, safe, and inclusive classroom environment. Conduct daily circle time, small group instruction, and learning center activities. Observe, assess, and document children's progress and developmental milestones. Maintain accurate attendance records and student files. Communicate regularly with parents regarding children's progress, behavior, and classroom activities. Supervise children at all times, ensuring their health and safety. Maintain a clean, organized, and engaging classroom environment. Collaborate with administrators and fellow teachers to support program goals. Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities. Ensure compliance with all DCF, licensing, and VPK regulations. Qualifications High School Diploma or GED required. Florida Child Care Professional Credential (FCCPC/CDA) or higher education degree in Early Childhood Education preferred. VPK Endorsement or Florida Staff Credential required. Completion of all required DCF training and background screening. Experience working with preschool-aged children (4-5 years old). Strong classroom management and communication skills. Ability to work effectively as part of a team. CPR and First Aid Certification preferred. Physical Requirements. Ability to stand, bend, kneel, and actively engage with children throughout the day.
