We are seeking a nurturing and dedicated candidate to work closely with lead teachers in carrying out daily classroom responsibilities. This role involves planning and implementing engaging educational activities that align with VPK standards and early childhood education requirements while preparing students for kindergarten readiness and ensuring the safety and well-being of all children. To be successful in this role, you must have a passion for children and exercise patience in guiding and supporting young learners. You must be dependable and possess impeccable references from prior employers. You must display a Christ-like attitude, provide exceptional customer service, and greet parents, children, and staff in a friendly and professional manner. Ultimately, you will provide constant supervision for the children in your care while fostering a nurturing, faith-centered learning environment that supports their academic, social, emotional, and spiritual development. Responsibilities Develop and implement age-appropriate VPK lesson plans that promote kindergarten readiness and learning in subjects including literacy, math, and social-emotional development. Integrate faith-based values and Christ-centered principles into daily classroom activities and interactions. Manage classroom behavior effectively using positive reinforcement and age-appropriate guidance strategies to encourage good conduct and respectful interactions. Foster a safe, nurturing, and inclusive classroom environment that supports the physical, emotional, social, and spiritual well-being of students. Conduct observations and assessments to monitor student progress and identify areas where additional support may be needed. Communicate regularly with parents regarding their child's progress, behavior, classroom participation, and any concerns that may arise. Collaborate with other teachers and staff members to enhance the overall educational experience for students. Participate in ongoing professional development opportunities to remain current with VPK standards and best practices in early childhood education. Provide constant supervision of children to ensure their safety during classroom instruction, meals, transitions, outdoor play, and all daily activities. Skills Strong classroom and behavior management skills to effectively guide and support young learners. Knowledge of child development principles and practices that support early childhood growth and learning. Understanding of VPK standards and kindergarten readiness expectations preferred. Proficiency in teaching foundational concepts appropriate for pre-kindergarten students. Background in childcare, preschool, daycare, or early childhood educational environments. CDA, degree, or certification in Early Childhood Education preferred. VPK credentials preferred.
Candidate must be:
At least 18 years of age. A high school graduate or equivalent. Cleared of any criminal record. DCF certified by completing the required 45 hours of DCF training or be willing to complete it within the first year. CPR, First Aid, and Blood Borne Pathogen certified or obtain upon hire. Mentally and physically capable of caring for a group of children, including lifting a child if needed. Punctual, dependable, consistent, and a commitment to adhere to our standards of excellence.
