Part Time Floating Assistant Teacher Position Summary:

We are seeking a caring, dependable, and flexible Part Time Floating Assistant Teacher to join our early childhood team. This position supports classrooms serving children from 6 weeks through 12 years of age. The Floating Assistant Teacher will move between classrooms as needed to help maintain a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment while supporting proper supervision, classroom routines, and staff to child ratios.

Key Responsibilities:

Assist lead teachers with classroom supervision, daily routines, and activities across various age groups. Support children's social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development. Help maintain a clean, safe, and organized classroom environment. Follow lesson plans, classroom expectations, and daily schedules provided by the lead teacher. Supervise children during playtime, meals, nap time, outdoor play, and transitions. Communicate professionally with staff, children, and families as needed. Move between classrooms as assigned to help maintain proper staff to child ratios. Assist with diapering, toileting, feeding, cleaning, and other classroom needs based on the age group. Participate in required training and professional development. Follow all center policies, licensing requirements, and health and safety procedures.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or GED required. Experience working with children in a group setting preferred. Must be flexible and willing to work with all age groups, including infants through school age. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and remain active throughout the day. DCF 45 hours completed or willingness to obtain upon hire preferred. CPR and First Aid certification preferred or willingness to complete upon hire. Must pass background screening and meet all licensing requirements. Must be dependable, professional, and able to work as part of a team.

Schedule:

This is a part time position with a regular schedule of Monday through Friday, 12:00 PM to 6:30 PM. Additional full day hours may be available as needed based on center needs.
