A Preschool or Childcare Teacher works with young children, usually ages 3 - 5, to help them learn the social, motor and language skills needed to be ready for kindergarten and elementary school. Organizes activities and uses play or games to help children learn; develops schedules and routines for children that include exercise and rest. Works in a school or in a childcare center or program.

09-19-25 SUMMARY The Early Childhood Prevention Initiative Family Educator works alongside families and children prenatal- age 3 in Henderson, Knox, Mercer, and Warren counties. Family Educators visit with families weekly or bi-weekly in their homes to empower parents to be their child's first teacher through goal setting and child development activities that focus on each individual child's needs. Some target populations include Limited-English Proficient families, pregnant or parenting teens, families with low literacy levels, remote and isolated families, etc. This role involves recruiting, maintaining information, and making personal visits to interested families. This role will also help families set personal goals and provide and assist with developmental screenings utilizing the Ages and Stages Questionnaire.
QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, & CRITICAL SKILLS
Knowledge of Google Suite and Microsoft Office programs including Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, etc. Ability to lift and carry up to 20 lbs. Ability to push/pull up to 10 lbs. Ability to communicate to students, parents, and staff in an acceptable/courteous manner. Must have excellent oral and written communication skills to work with teachers, education support personnel, building administrators, and the general public. Enforce ROE regulations and policies in a professional manner. Ability to maintain good working relationships with fellow employees and pupils. Be certified as a Parents as Teachers Family Educator.
