Part Time Position Summary:
The aide for Trinity Christian Preschool is responsible to assist in all aspects of the care and education for the children enrolled in his/her class. Responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following: physical caregiving, following an age-appropriate bible curriculum, and facilitating supportive relationships with children, staff, and parents.Spiritual Qualifications:
Each employee at Trinity Christian Preschool must have received Jesus Christ as his/her Savior. The employee shall be a Christian role model in attitude, speech, and actions towards others. The teacher's aide must be in regular attendance at a church and also agree with TCS's Statement of Faith.Accountability:
The aide for the preschool program is accountable to the Preschool Director in all areas of school policy and classroom management.Essential Job Functions/Responsibilities:
Responsibilities of this position will include but is not necessarily limited to the following:- Ensure the safety of each child enrolled in the class whether in the classroom, on the playground, in the hallways or washrooms.
- Plan and implement a bible lesson which includes teaching bible memory verse songs.
- Assist the lead teacher in accomplishing the goals of the classroom.
- Assist the lead teacher's ordered arrangement, appearance, décor and learning environment of the classroom.
- Assist the lead teacher in observing and evaluating children's development and progress. Interactions with Children
- Treat all children with dignity and respect his/her cultural background.
- Encourage children's development in the areas of building self-confidence, problem solving and taking responsibility. Relationship with Parents
- Respect the cultural differences and socioeconomic diversity of all parents.
- Communicate with parents through a variety of media, newsletters, notes, emails, phone calls, etc. Supporting Staff Relationships
- Attend yearly In-service/conference provided by preschool director. Administrative Functions
- Complete weekly bible lesson plans.
Physical Requirements:
The teacher's aide must be able to consistently accomplish the following:- Observe and respond to children's needs, emergencies and/or conflicts that might occur in the classroom, on the playground, or in the hallways/washrooms.
- Supervise up to (10) children alone without support.
- Able to supervise children outside while exposed to the sun, rain, snow and/or other weather or temperature changes.
- Can respond to children's first aid needs (inside and outside) which may include cuts, bruises, blood/bodily fluids.
- Establish clear communications orally and in writing (in the English language) to children, parents, and co-workers.
