The Ethical Society of Skokie is seeking enthusiastic and caring teachers to join our Children's Program for the upcoming school year. Our Sunday School provides children with a welcoming environment where they can learn, explore ethical ideas, build community, and develop a deeper understanding of themselves and the world around them. Responsibilities Foster a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment for children and families. Be onsite from 10:15 a.m.-12:15 p.m. on Sundays, September through the end of May. Implement weekly, pre-planned lessons and activities. Safely supervise children during outdoor activities and open play. Help facilitate our Community Activity Hour for children following classroom lessons. Maintain an organized classroom by completing weekly setup and cleanup procedures. Work collaboratively with fellow staff members and volunteers to create a positive experience for children and families. Requirements Previous experience working in an educational setting and enthusiasm for working with children. Familiarity with principles of child development and learning. Willingness to develop a working understanding of Humanist culture, values, and the mission of the Ethical Society of Skokie. Flexibility to adapt to changing needs and adjust activities as needed. Ability to work effectively alongside fellow staff and volunteers. Must successfully pass a background check and adhere to the Society's Child Protection Guidelines and Code of Conduct. Must provide references who can speak to your experience working with children. Compensation Teachers will be paid $30 per hour, for a total of $60 per Sunday.
