About MLK Montessori School MLK Montessori School is a year-round early childhood Montessori school serving the Fort Wayne community. As the oldest Montessori school in Indiana, we have a long history of providing children with a nurturing educational environment that encourages independence, confidence, responsibility, and a lifelong love of learning. In 2024, MLK Montessori was one of only five schools in Indiana to receive recognition from the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) . We are looking for a caring, dependable, and enthusiastic Early Childhood Teacher to join our team. Montessori experience is preferred, but it is not required . We welcome experienced early childhood educators who are interested in learning the Montessori philosophy and growing professionally with our school. What You'll Do As a member of our teaching team, you will: Create a warm, welcoming, organized classroom environment where children feel safe, respected, and supported. Guide children toward independence, responsibility, cooperation, and positive social development. Prepare and present developmentally appropriate learning activities. Observe children's development and document their progress. Support individualized learning based on each child's developmental needs. Establish positive and respectful relationships with students. Communicate professionally with families regarding children's progress and development. Work collaboratively with co-teachers, administration, and other school staff. Maintain a safe classroom environment and follow school and licensing policies. Participate in professional development, staff meetings, school events, and training. What We're Looking For Our ideal candidate: Enjoys working with young children and understands the importance of early childhood education. Is dependable, patient, nurturing, and professional. Works well as part of a teaching team. Communicates effectively with children, families, and coworkers. Is willing to learn and implement Montessori principles and practices. Has previous experience working with young children in a classroom, childcare, preschool, or Montessori environment.
Preferred qualifications include:
Montessori Early Childhood/Primary credential Child Development Associate (CDA) credential Degree or coursework in Early Childhood Education, Education, Child Development, or a related field Previous Montessori classroom experience CPR/First Aid certification Montessori certification is preferred but not required. Full-time employees may receive:
