Corner Co-op Nursery School is seeking a Preschool Teacher to support the daily operations of the Corner Co-op by creating a safe, nurturing, supportive, and respectful environment. As a parent cooperative, we embrace our cooperation with families to support children as they learn about the world around them. We respect the perspectives of young and old. The Teacher role assists with classroom activities, supervision, documentation, and family communication while upholding all licensing regulations and Corner Co‑op policies. Teachers collaborate closely with the Director and Lead Teacher and serve as resources to children and families as we all learn together how to make connections and experience life. We are seeking teachers who are enthusiastic, flexible, and compassionate.ABOUT THE POSITION
The Corner Co-op has two programs: the Preschool Program has a capacity of 20 children, ages 2 years 9 months to 5 years, and the Toddler program, with a capacity of 9 children, ages 15 months to 2 years 9 months. Our hours are 8am - 2pm, but some children stay only until noon while others stay for our lunch program from 12-2pm. We roughly follow the Brookline Public Schools calendar and are in operation from September - June, and also have a separate summer program that runs part-time in July and August that teachers are welcome to participate in as well. We have an indoor space, a private courtyard, and easy access to an abutting park and playground. Part-time and Full-time positions available, depending on scheduling needs and preferences, from 12-25 hours per week. Pay rate is based upon qualifications and experience.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned. Assist with daily classroom setup, including preparing art materials, sensory activities, and general classroom organization. Greet children at arrival, support sign‑in procedures, and assist with daily transitions. Help maintain a clean and safe classroom environment (e.g., wiping tables, trash removal, general upkeep). Support end‑of‑day routines, including helping secure and tidy the classroom. Maintain active, continuous supervision of children in the classroom, during transitions, and on the playground. Monitor for safety concerns and respond promptly to children's needs. Follow all EEC safety protocols, health procedures, and school policies. Administer first aid as trained and complete injury reports as required. Participate in fire and safety drills as directed by the Lead Teacher and Director. Assist the Lead Teacher and Director in creating sensory activities, art projects, and classroom experiences as needed. Play with children. Observe children regularly and monitor developmental progress, behavioral patterns, and milestones. Contribute to fall and spring written observations and assist with parent‑teacher conferences. Share observations with the Lead Teacher and Director and maintain accurate anecdotal records. Maintain professional, supportive communication with families regarding daily experiences and general classroom updates. Refer developmental concerns or sensitive matters to the Lead Teacher or Director. Maintain open communication with the Director, Lead Teacher, and co‑teachers. Participate in monthly staff meetings. Participate in check‑ins or collaborative planning sessions as requested. Follow all EEC guidelines and complete required annual training and professional development hours. Uphold confidentiality of student records and family information. Immediately report suspected child abuse or neglect in accordance with mandated reporter laws and school policy. Maintain required immunizations, health documentation, and professional conduct standards. Perform other tasks reasonably assigned by the Director or Lead Teacher to support classroom operations and child safety. Assure all work performed is done in accordance with OSHA safety standards and those established by the Corner Co-op Nursery School. Assure that all work performed meets the Corner Co-op Nursery School's standards for customer service, accuracy, quality, and efficiency. Establish and maintain an effective working relationship with employees, vendors, guests, board members, and donors. Other duties as assigned.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Meets or is eligible to meet Massachusetts EEC Teacher requirements for preschool. Maintains current CPR/First Aid certification and completes all required orientation, annual training, and professional development. Maintains required health documentation, immunizations, and the physical, mental, and emotional ability to safely care for children. Ability to move quickly in response to children's needs or emergencies. Ability to engage with children at the floor level. Communicate effectively with children, families, and staff Must be comfortable immediately reporting suspected child abuse or neglect as required by law and school policy. Must be comfortable following all confidentiality, mandated reporting, licensing, health, safety, medication administration, and emergency procedures required by EEC regulations and Corner Co-op Nursery School policy. Employment is contingent upon successful completion and ongoing maintenance of all required EEC background record checks (CORI, DCF, SORI, fingerprinting, etc.) Reliability, punctuality, and consistent attendance. Professional conduct and cooperative teamwork. Compliance with all school policies, EEC regulations, and mandated reporting obligations. Participation in performance evaluations and professional development.ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS
Work is performed primarily inside the School, however there is likely outside exposure as well to varying temperatures and weather conditions from heat, cold, windy, rain and snow.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Frequent climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, walking, reaching, talking, hearing, grasping and finger dexterity, repetitive motions. Ability to lift up to 30 pounds Sitting approximately 20 percent of the time. Standing approximately 40 percent of the time. Walking approximately 40 percent of the time. Up to 50 pounds of force infrequently to lift or otherwise move objects.VISION REQUIREMENTS
