About Us Tender Years of Deale is a Christian, faith-based child care center that provides a nurturing, safe environment where children grow in faith, literacy, and play-based learning during their "tender years." We're licensed by the Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE License #261623) and proudly partnered with Cedar Grove Methodist Church. About the Role We're hiring a Lead Teacher for our infant and toddler classrooms — The Acorns (6 weeks-17 months) and/or The Pine Cones (18-24 months). These are intimate classrooms with a 1:3 teacher-to-child ratio, so you'll build close, trusting relationships with your little ones and their families. Classroom hours are 7:00am-4:00pm, Monday-Friday. What You'll Do Plan and lead developmentally appropriate, literacy-rich, play-based activities using our Experience Curriculum (Experience Baby / Experience Toddler) Nurture each child's emotional, social, physical, and spiritual growth in a warm, faith-affirming environment Maintain a safe, clean, and engaging classroom, including diapering, feeding, and nap routines Communicate daily with families through the Brightwheel app (check-in/out, photos, lesson plans) Partner with therapists or specialists as needed for children with special health care needs (we practice total inclusion) Participate in staff meetings, ongoing training, and fire/emergency drills What We're Looking For High school diploma or GED Meets Maryland State teacher qualification requirements for infant/toddler care (coursework, credentialing, and/or experience with young children) Willingness to complete required MSDE onboarding: Basic Health & Safety course, CPR/First Aid certification, background check and fingerprinting, and medical evaluation (TB test) A gentle, patient, and loving approach to caring for infants and toddlers Reliable, punctual, and a team player Compensation & Benefits Starting at $19.00/hour, based on experience and credentials Paid holidays (including a paid Summer Recess week after your 90-day introductory period) 401(k) eligibility Employee Assistance Program (EAP) Tuition assistance for continuing education and Core Knowledge coursework Support pursuing the Maryland Child Care Credential Program PTO for eligible full-time staff Apply Today Join a team that sees this work as a calling, not just a job.
