Primary Purpose Responsible for planning and implementing the daily program of developmentally appropriate activities for designated group of children; creating a healthy and safe learning environment for said group; understanding and maintaining compliance with NC Child Care regulations/requirements; keeping parents and director informed of classroom and child related information; attending pre-service and in-service training as required Position Duties Assisting with implementing the daily program of developmentally appropriate activities for the group of children assigned and identify each child's capabilities and needs. Assist in and maintaining a safe and healthy internal and external learning environment for the group. Assure the welfare, health and safety of the children in the group. Assist, organize and maintain classroom and outside activity areas, materials and supplies. Inform Lead Teacher or Director of material replacement needs. Maintain constant supervision of children. Use developmentally appropriate guidance techniques with groups assigned. Complying with record keeping activities related to children in group and general center reports. Understand and maintain compliance with NC Child Care requirements. Keep Lead Teacher and Director informed of classroom activities/issues/problems. Establish and maintain effective communication with parents/guardians and other Center staff. Participate in professional development activities that support the teacher role. Serve as the "model" of appropriate teacher behavior for WCC students participating in instructional activities at the Center. Perform routine housekeeping chores on a daily, weekly, monthly basis to include sweeping/mopping, sanitizing furniture and toys, etc Position Requirements A high school diploma or the equivalent required. Associate's degree in early childhood education preferred; minimum educational requirement is the NC Early Childhood Credential (or earned within 12 months) and current enrollment in an Early Childhood program of study if an associate's degree is not currently held. Three years' experience with children in a childcare setting is preferred. Current First Aid and CPR certification, ITS-SIDS and other licensing training required by DCDEE. Supplemental Information Associate's degree in early childhood education preferred; minimum educational requirement is the NC Early Childhood Credential (or earned within 12 months) and current enrollment in an Early Childhood program of study if an associate's degree is not currently held. Three years' experience with children in a childcare setting is preferred. Current First Aid and CPR certification, ITS-SIDS and other licensing training required by DCDEE. Unofficial transcripts from all degree-granting, institutions must be electronically attached to your application or submitted to Human Resources before being considered for an interview. To be considered, all degrees must be awarded by a regionally accredited institution recognized by the United States Department of Education. Official transcripts for all coursework and degrees will be required within 30 days of hire.

Foreign Degrees:

Foreign degree evaluations must be attached in lieu of transcripts for degrees earned outside the United States. Transcripts from foreign institutions will not be considered alone.
