Primary Purpose The lead teacher is responsible for planning and implementing the daily program of developmentally appropriate activities for designated group of children; creating a healthy and safe learning environment for said group; understanding and maintaining compliance with NC Child Care regulations/requirements; keeping parents and director informed of classroom and child related information; attending pre-service and in-service training as required Position Duties Leading and implementing the daily program of developmentally appropriate activities for the group of children assigned and identify each child's capabilities and needs. Create a safe and healthy internal and external learning environment for the group. Assure the welfare, health and safety of the children in the group. Organize and maintain classroom and outside activity areas, materials and supplies. Inform director of material replacement needs. Maintain constant supervision of children. Use developmentally appropriate guidance techniques with groups assigned. Complying with record keeping activities related to children in group and general center reports. Understand and maintain compliance with NC Child Care requirements. Keep director informed of classroom activities/issues/problems. Establish and maintain effective communication with parents/guardians and other Center staff. Participate in professional development activities that support lead teacher role. Serve as the "model" of appropriate teacher behavior for WCC students participating in instructional activities at the Center. Perform routine housekeeping chores on a daily, weekly, monthly basis to include sweeping/mopping, sanitizing furniture and toys, etc. Position Requirements Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education required as well as the NC Early Childhood Credential.

• Experience working with children ages 0-5 preferred and have an annual medical statement from a licensed physician or health professional stating that the provider is emotionally and physically able to care for children as well as an annual TB test; participate in annual Blood

• and in-service requirements Hold the NC Early Childhood Credential (issued by DCDEE) Hold current ITS-SIDs certification or obtain within 30 days Supplemental Information If the NC Early Childhood Credential is not presented at time of hire, the applicant must be willing to enroll in Intro to Early Childhood Education (EDU 119), within 6 months of hire, pass the course within 12 months and apply for the North Carolina Early Childhood Credential immediately upon successful completion of the course.

Unofficial transcripts from all degree-granting, institutions must be electronically attached to your application or submitted to Human Resources before being considered for an interview. To be considered, all degrees must be awarded by a regionally accredited institution recognized by the United States Department of Education. Official transcripts for all coursework and degrees will be required within 30 days of hire.

Foreign degree evaluations must be attached in lieu of transcripts for degrees earned outside the United States. Transcripts from foreign institutions will not be considered alone.
