PRE-K LEAD TEACHER
Tiny Steps Learning Center | Lumberton, NC Full-Time | Monday-Friday | 7:30 AM-3:30 PM Tiny Steps Learning Center is looking for a qualified, loving, dependable, and passionate NC Pre-K Lead Teacher to join our team! We are seeking an educator who is passionate about early childhood education and wants to make a meaningful difference in the lives of young children while helping prepare them for a successful transition to kindergarten.
PLEASE READ BEFORE APPLYING THIS IS AN NC PRE-K LEAD TEACHER POSITION. PLEASE DO NOT APPLY UNLESS YOU CURRENTLY MEET THE NC PRE-K LEAD TEACHER EDUCATION/LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS OR ARE CURRENTLY ELIGIBLE FOR AN APPROVED NC PRE-K LICENSURE PATHWAY.
Applicants will be required to provide documentation of their education and licensure/eligibility. For a non-public NC Pre-K program, eligible applicants may include individuals who hold or qualify for one of the following: NC Birth-Kindergarten (B-K) Initial License NC Birth-Kindergarten (B-K) Continuing License NC Initial or Continuing Professional Educator's License with a B-K or Preschool Add-on NC Provisional B-K or Preschool Add-on License NC Residency B-K License NC Emergency B-K License , when eligibility is determined through the Early Educator Support (EES) Unit NC Lateral Entry B-K License where applicable to an existing licensure pathway Qualifying out-of-state or international teaching license Other qualifying licensure pathways recognized by NC Pre-K/EES Unlicensed applicants may also qualify for a Residency B-K pathway if they meet the state's requirements, including a bachelor's degree, required GPA/coursework, enrollment in an approved Educator Preparation Program, and employment as an NC Pre-K Lead Teacher in a non-public school program. NC Pre-K Lead Teachers employed in non-public programs are required to enroll with the North Carolina Early Educator Support (EES) Unit.
EDUCATION & LICENSURE
Applicants must be able to provide appropriate documentation of their: Bachelor's degree, when required by their licensure pathway Official college transcripts NC teaching license or documentation of licensure eligibility B-K/Preschool licensure pathway Plan of Study, if applicable EES enrollment or eligibility documentation, if applicable Teachers working toward licensure must meet the applicable progress requirements established by NC Pre-K, NCDPI, the EES Unit, and their Educator Preparation Program. For applicable pathways, this includes making required coursework progress, generally at a rate of 6 semester hours per school year with a grade of C or higher , unless the educator has completed the applicable educational requirements.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Preference will be given to applicants who have: Previous NC Pre-K teaching experience Experience teaching children ages 3-5 Experience with Teaching Strategies / Creative Curriculum Knowledge of the NC Foundations for Early Learning and Development Experience with developmental assessments and documentation Strong classroom management and positive behavior-support skills Experience working with children with IEPs, developmental delays, or additional support needs Excellent communication and family-engagement skills Strong organizational and documentation skills A genuine passion for early childhood education
WHAT YOU'LL DO
As our NC Pre-K Lead Teacher, you will: Plan and implement a developmentally appropriate NC Pre-K curriculum. Create a warm, safe, engaging, and structured classroom environment. Provide hands-on learning experiences that support kindergarten readiness. Support children's social-emotional, language, literacy, cognitive, physical, and self-help development. Observe and document children's development and progress. Complete required assessments, screenings, documentation, and classroom records. Implement positive behavior-support strategies. Maintain required supervision, safety, health, and ratio standards. Communicate professionally and consistently with families. Work closely with your Teacher Assistant and center administration. Participate in required NC Pre-K trainings, professional development, meetings, and events. Follow all NC Pre-K requirements, NC Child Care Rules, center policies, and procedures. Build positive relationships with children and families. Help create a classroom where every child feels safe, loved, valued, and ready to learn.
