Afternoon Teacher - Early Childhood Education Job Summary We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Afternoon Teacher to join our vibrant early childhood education team. In this role, you will create a nurturing, safe, and stimulating environment for young learners during the afternoon hours while supporting their social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development. You will implement engaging activities, manage classroom routines, and communicate effectively with families and team members to support each child's individual growth. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact on children's lives while working in a dynamic and supportive early childhood setting. Responsibilities Develop and implement age-appropriate learning activities that support early childhood development, including literacy, math, physical development, and social-emotional skills. Manage classroom activities and routines to promote positive behavior, engagement, and learning among toddlers and preschool-aged children. Maintain a safe, inclusive, clean, and welcoming classroom environment. Provide active supervision of children at all times and follow required staff-to-child ratios. Use positive guidance and appropriate behavior-management techniques. Collaborate with other teachers and staff to plan activities and maintain consistent classroom routines. Communicate professionally with parents and guardians regarding children's daily activities, progress, behavior, and developmental milestones. Follow all child safety procedures and mandated reporting requirements. Complete incident reports and other required documentation accurately and promptly. Maintain accurate attendance, classroom, and child records as required. Follow all center policies and applicable North Carolina child care licensing requirements. Assist with meals, diapering, toileting, cleaning, transitions, outdoor play, and other daily care routines as needed. Support children with different developmental needs and abilities in an inclusive and respectful manner. Skills & Requirements Previous experience working with children in a licensed child care center, preschool, or similar early childhood setting is preferred. Knowledge of child development and developmentally appropriate practices. Ability to work effectively with toddlers and preschool-aged children. Strong classroom-management and positive-guidance skills. Dependable, punctual, patient, energetic, and able to work collaboratively as part of a team. Strong communication skills when interacting with children, families, coworkers, and administration. First Aid and CPR certification is preferred; required training must be completed as applicable. Experience supporting children with special needs or developmental delays is a plus. Must meet all applicable North Carolina child care employment and training requirements. Background Check Requirement All teachers and child care staff must successfully complete and receive the required qualification through the North Carolina Child Care Background Check process before working with children, as required by the NC Division of Child Development and Early Education (DCDEE). Employment is contingent upon meeting all applicable North Carolina child care background check and qualification requirements . Applicants must be willing to provide the information and documentation necessary to complete the required background check process.
