Job Description
Long-Term Substitute Preschool Teacher The Raleigh School is a cooperative community of children, parents, and teachers that fosters a love of learning in an atmosphere of challenge, inquiry, and respect. We are seeking a Long-Term Substitute Preschool Teacher to join our team for a 12-week maternity leave coverage in a 2-year-old classroom. This will be a part-day, temporary position. In this role, you will step into an established, supportive classroom, collaborating closely with our assistant teacher to continue providing a nurturing and engaging, play-based experience for our young learners, maintaining established routines and supporting children through a transition. Key Responsibilities Maintain and continue a warm, nurturing environment that promotes each child's individual development while upholding a strong, supportive class community. Utilize a strong understanding of child development and a commitment to developmentally appropriate practice. Implement a play-based curriculum framework, incorporating children's emergent interests both in the classroom and outdoors on naturalized playgrounds and in the woods. Partner with parents on a daily basis within our established parent-participatory model, offering ongoing guidance, support, and communication. Maintain established classroom routines, structure, and positive behavior management strategies, while fostering continuity for the children. Collaborate with assistant teachers, faculty, and school administration. Qualifications Ideal candidates will have a Bachelor's or Associate's degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field, or possess an equivalent degree, credential, or certification that meets NAEYC accreditation standards. Preschool teachers must have appropriate prior experience as an early childhood educator. Valid background check, CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain prior to start). Strong communication skills, patience, and a genuine passion for early childhood development.
