Job Description
Position Summary Saint Joseph Regional School and Our Lady of Mercy Academy seek a creative, faith-filled, and enthusiastic Part-Time Art Teacher to provide engaging visual arts instruction for students in Pre-K through Grade 12. The successful candidate will inspire artistic expression, foster creativity, and support the academic and spiritual mission of our Catholic schools. This position involves planning and delivering age-appropriate art instruction, showcasing student work, and cultivating an appreciation for the arts within a Christ-centered learning environment. Essential Responsibilities Plan and teach developmentally appropriate art lessons for students in Pre-K through Grade 12 including a high school Visual Art/Art History Course that explores the history of visual art through the lens of the Catholic intellectual tradition, helping students discover how art reflects truth, goodness, and beauty throughout history. Including major artistic movements from the ancient world through the Renaissance and into the modern era while examining the influence of faith, culture, and civilization on artistic expression. Introduce students to a variety of artistic techniques, media, art history, and cultural perspectives. Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages creativity, self-expression, and respect. Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse learning needs and abilities of students. Organize and maintain art supplies, equipment, and classroom spaces. Assess student progress and provide constructive feedback. Display student artwork throughout the school and coordinate art exhibits, showcases, or special events. Collaborate with faculty and administration to support interdisciplinary learning opportunities. Communicate effectively with parents, students, and school staff. Uphold the mission, values, and teachings of the Catholic Church and serve as a positive role model for students. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Art Education, Fine Arts, Education, or a related field preferred. Teaching certification or eligibility for certification preferred. Experience teaching art to children and adolescents in a school setting preferred. Knowledge of a wide range of artistic media and techniques. Strong classroom management and organizational skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities. Commitment to supporting the mission and values of Catholic education. Preferred Attributes Ability to engage students across a broad age range, from early childhood through high school. Passion for fostering creativity and artistic confidence in students. Experience organizing student exhibitions and school art programs. Willingness to contribute to the broader life of the school community. Schedule Part-time position. School-year schedule following the academic calendar. Specific days and hours to be determined based on enrollment and program needs. Compensation Competitive compensation commensurate with experience and qualifications.
