Our innovative, private Early Childhood Learning Center in Ridgewood, NJ is seeking a full-time , year-round Assistant Preschool Director who is ready to take that next step. This is a great professional opportunity for an experienced preschool teacher or similar early childhood education-related professional who is adaptable, organized and passionate about early childhood education, someone who is eager to learn every day as they develop the skills needed for preschool leadership. Through cross-training in hands-on classroom management support and administrative functions, you'll have daily opportunities to build the foundational skills you'll need to become an accomplished Assistant Director (and ultimately, a Preschool Director). The successful candidate will become a key member of a management team that leads and actively supports talented classroom teaching teams who deliver a hands-on, Creative Curriculum program for each of our students, including, most importantly, social and physical development. You'll need to have proven track-record of leading teaching teams to provide both great learning opportunities and patient, loving care for each of your students --and thoughtful support for each of their parents and families, too! Must also be able to lift children and change diapers, as needed. In your new role, you'll be leveraging those skills, along with your positive classroom management approach, sense of humor and passion for teaching active children as you work directly with our students, teachers and families in a fast-paced, supportive "don't bring me problems, bring me solutions" culture. A typical week as an Assistant Director will include a diverse range of activities, including covering for an absent teacher; completing a materials inventory ; helping a teacher with a lesson plan; drafting an e-mail for parents or social media post for our community; modeling a best practice for resolving a behavioral issue with a team of classroom teachers; updating records or one of our databases; making sure the campus is clean and safe; and helping to plan a field trip or other community event As this is a Preschool Director-track position, you'll need to have a BA/BS degree and at least three years of preschool or similar teaching experience—two consecutive years minimum at the same preschool --although your degree need not specifically be in early childhood education, as we provide on-going professional development opportunities. You'll need to be available to work a regular, full-time, year-round Monday-Friday schedule.
