Infant Teacher:

someone who gives babies warm, unhurried, attentive care, gives their parents genuine confidence at drop-off, and treats the first year of a child's life as the serious teaching work it is. The Preschool operates under the direction of the Preschool Director and is licensed by the New York State Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS). What you'll do Provide warm, responsive care to a small group of infants — feeding, diapering, and naps on each child's own rhythm, following each family's routines and instructions Hold New York State OCFS standards in the room at all times: safe sleep, supervision, ratios, and health practices Plan and lead simple, age-appropriate experiences that build early language, motor, and sensory development — tummy time, songs, books, and plenty of narrated everyday moments Send families a daily report on feeding, sleeping, diapering, and the day's moments, and talk with them personally at drop-off and pick-up Observe and record each child's development using the school's observation tools, and flag anything worth a closer look to the Preschool Director Keep the infant room clean, sanitized, organized, and stocked Work as a close team with the room's teaching assistants, and with the Preschool Director on anything affecting a child or family Complete required OCFS training hours, and carry out your duties as a mandated reporter What we're looking for Required — New York State OCFS qualifications for an infant/toddler group teacher, meaning one of the following: Associate's degree in Early Childhood, Child Development, or a related field, plus 1 year of experience caring for infants and toddlers; or Infant/Toddler CDA (or another OCFS-recognized infant/toddler credential), plus 2 years of experience caring for children; or Child Development Associate (CDA) credential, plus 2 years of experience, at least one of them with infants or toddlers; or 9 college credits in Early Childhood or Child Development with a plan of study toward a credential or degree in the field, plus 2 years of experience, at least one of them with infants or toddlers

Ability to pass all pre-employment screening, including OCFS-required background clearances and a medical statement Preferred Associate's or bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or Child Development Experience in an OCFS-licensed child care center, especially an infant room Infant/child CPR and first-aid certification What makes someone thrive here: calm that babies settle into, warmth that parents trust with their most precious thing, and the consistency to make every diaper, bottle, and nap unremarkable — in the best possible way.
