The Teacher will plan and implement learning experiences that advance the intellectual and physical development of children six weeks to three years old, including improving the readiness of children for school by developing their literacy, their understanding and use of language, their understanding and use of increasingly complex and varied vocabulary, their appreciation of books, their problem solving abilities, their fine and gross motor skills, and their approaches to learning. To maintain the health and safety of children. To provide active supervision of students at all times. The Teacher will establish and maintain a safe, healthy learning environment; support the social and emotional development of children; and encourage the involvement of the families of the children in the Early Head Start program and support the development of relationships between children and their families.QUALIFICATIONS
Hold an Associate, Bachelor's or advanced degree in early childhood education or family studies (with concentration in Early Childhood) preferred: or Bachelor or Associate degree in related fields with combination of education and work experience with a willingness to pursue an Infant/Toddler CDA or a current Child Development Associate (CDA) credential in Infants/Toddlers Supervised classroom experience with infants/toddlers or young children preferred except as listed above. Knowledgeable of Early Childhood curriculum and developmentally appropriate practices. Classroom management/supervision skills. Willingness/ability to work as a team member. Good organizational skills. History of good job attendance. Must pass criminal background check, be free from communicable disease and provide Medical Statement prior to first day of employment.
