Position Summary This individual works collaboratively with the Assistant School Director and Head Teachers to provide a safe, nurturing, and engaging classroom environment. This position supports instruction, classroom management, student supervision, daily routines, and positive family relationships while promoting the mission and philosophy of The Edison Early Learning Center. Qualification Meet Pennsylvania Private Academic School Assistant Teacher requirements (22 Pa. Code Chapter 53). Qualifying education/coursework in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or Elementary Education. Current PA clearances and Pediatric First Aid/CPR certification. Strong communication, teamwork, and organizational skills. Minimum high school diploma At least 18 years of age, Associates Degree in ECE preferred. May obtain while working. . Participates in required in-service trainings Essential Responsibilities Classroom Support & Instruction Assist Director/Assistant Director with morning drop-offs and dismissals Provide classroom coverage for teacher lunch breaks Assist with implementing lesson plans, centers, small-group instruction, stories, and classroom activities, as needed. Maintain active supervision throughout the day. Assist with meals, hygiene, rest time, and transitions. Promote positive behavior and social-emotional development. Provide supervision and interactive play in the after-care program (2:30 pm - 4:00 pm) Substitute in classrooms as needed Classroom Environment Help teachers maintain a clean, organized, welcoming classroom. Help teachers rotate books, toys, and learning materials. Stock classroom and cleaning supplies. Close down classrooms at night by cleaning, vaccuming, organizing toys, etc. Health & Safety Follow school health and safety procedures. Care for ill or injured students and complete required reports. Participate in emergency drills and maintain sanitation. Family Communication Record attendance and daily activities using Brightwheel, as needed Assist with conferences, field trips, and school events as needed. Professional Responsibilities Attend meetings and required training. Maintain confidentiality and professionalism. Support substitute staff and perform other duties assigned by the Director or Head Teacher. Physical Job Demands Lift up to 40 pounds. Frequently bend, kneel, squat, stand, walk, and sit on the floor. Supervise children indoors and outdoors. Respond appropriately during emergencies. Pay:
$14.00 - $18.00 per hour Expected hours: 25.0 - 36.0 per week
