A Preschool or Childcare Teacher works with young children, usually ages 3 - 5, to help them learn the social, motor and language skills needed to be ready for kindergarten and elementary school. Organizes activities and uses play or games to help children learn; develops schedules and routines for children that include exercise and rest. Works in a school or in a childcare center or program.

Creating fun, age-appropriate learning experiences Encouraging outdoor exploration and nature-based play Helping children build social, emotional, and developmental skills Reading stories, singing songs, creating art, and joining imaginative play Serving meals and snacks and assisting with daily routines Comforting children and helping them work through big feelings Maintaining a clean, organized, and safe classroom Communicating positively with families and coworkers Providing attentive and dependable supervision Some days you may tie shoes, settle a block-tower disagreement, catch bubbles, answer 100 questions, and receive a macaroni necklace—all before lunch! You May Be a Great Fit If You Are Caring, patient, dependable, and ready to learn Comfortable working with children of different ages Able to remain calm when a child suddenly announces, "I have to go potty!"
