Starting at $17.00+ per hour, based on education, credentials, and experience Position Summary Young Black Motivated Kings & Queens (YBMKQ) is seeking an experienced, dependable, and passionate Group Supervisors to join our Early Learning Center team. The Group Supervisor is responsible for the daily supervision, care, education, and development of children within an assigned classroom while ensuring compliance with Pennsylvania childcare regulations and YBMKQ policies and procedures. This position is ideal for an early childhood professional who enjoys working directly with children while also providing classroom leadership, supporting staff, maintaining regulatory compliance, and creating a safe, structured, engaging, and nurturing learning environment. Essential Duties & Responsibilities The Group Supervisor will: Provide direct supervision and care to children throughout the program day. Plan, prepare, and implement age-appropriate educational activities, lesson plans, and classroom experiences that support children's social, emotional, cognitive, language, and physical development. Maintain a safe, welcoming, organized, and developmentally appropriate classroom environment. Supervise and provide day-to-day guidance to Assistant Group Supervisors, Aides, and other assigned classroom staff. Ensure required staff-to-child ratios and active supervision standards are maintained at all times. Maintain accurate attendance, classroom, incident, developmental, and other required records. Complete required observations and assist with monitoring children's developmental progress. Establish consistent classroom routines and use positive, developmentally appropriate behavior-management practices. Build positive and professional relationships with parents and guardians and communicate appropriately regarding children's experiences, progress, and needs. Follow all YBMKQ health, safety, emergency, sanitation, and child supervision procedures. Ensure the classroom and assigned staff operate in accordance with applicable Pennsylvania Department of Human Services childcare regulations. Support YBMKQ's continued advancement through the Keystone STARS quality-improvement process. Participate in staff meetings, professional development, required trainings, family engagement activities, and center events. Assist children with meals, toileting, diapering, rest periods, transitions, and other daily care routines as appropriate for the assigned age group. Immediately document and report accidents, injuries, suspected abuse or neglect, safety concerns, and other required incidents according to applicable policies and regulations. Maintain confidentiality regarding children, families, staff, and organizational information. Perform other childcare and program-related duties necessary to support the safe and effective operation of the center. Qualifications Candidates must meet the applicable Pennsylvania regulatory qualifications for a Group Supervisor based on their combination of education, credentials, and qualifying experience. Relevant education may include coursework or credentials in areas such as: Early Childhood Education Child Development Elementary Education Special Education Human Services or another qualifying related field Candidates must be able to provide documentation necessary to verify their education and qualifying experience. Required Clearances & Training Successful candidates must obtain and maintain all clearances, certifications, and trainings required for employment in a Pennsylvania childcare setting and by YBMKQ, which may include: Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance Pennsylvania State Police Criminal History Clearance FBI Fingerprint Background Check National Sex Offender Registry verification, when applicable Mandated Reporter Training Pediatric First Aid and CPR certification Required health assessment/documentation Fire safety and emergency preparedness training Additional DHS, Keystone STARS, or YBMKQ-required professional development Preferred Qualifications Preference may be given to candidates who: Have previous experience working in a licensed childcare or early learning center. Have experience serving infants, toddlers, preschool, or Pre-K children. Have experience supervising or providing leadership to other childcare staff. Have familiarity with Pennsylvania DHS childcare regulations and Keystone STARS. Possess a CDA, associate degree, bachelor's degree, or higher credential in Early Childhood Education or a related field. Have experience developing and implementing lesson plans and developmentally appropriate classroom activities. Demonstrate strong classroom management, communication, organization, and documentation skills. Physical & Professional Expectations Candidates must be able to actively supervise children throughout the workday and perform the physical responsibilities associated with early childhood care, including sitting on the floor, standing for extended periods, bending, reaching, moving throughout the classroom, and assisting children with daily routines. The Group Supervisor must demonstrate reliability, professionalism, sound judgment, patience, strong communication, and a genuine commitment to creating a safe and supportive environment for children and families.
