The Berks County Intermediate Unit (BCIU) is seeking dedicated and passionate individuals to make an impact on the 70,000+ students and their families in Berks County. Summary of position : The teacher is responsible for implementing the curriculum and for providing a safe and secure classroom environment that meets the needs of all participating preschool children in program. Job Responsibilities (see attached job description for additional details): Implement early childhood curriculum, students' Individualized Education Plans (IEPs), and conduct assessments that are appropriate to the developmental age levels in the class. Organize the space in the classroom to make the best use of materials and activities available to provide maximum benefit to the children and maintain safety standards. Establish rules appropriate to a child's developmental level using Positive Behavior Support Strategies and exercise authority to handle classroom emergencies. Coordinate related services with classroom activities (provide orientation and training for classroom team members).
Qualifications:
Associate Degree in Early Childhood or Child Development or related field required/ B.S in Early Childhood Education with ECE certification, preferred. Ability to perform the following physical activities: stoop, run, sit, stand, walk, bend, lift children, carry thirty (30) pounds, be outside in all seasons, be inside, prepare food, hear within normal ranges, and see within normal ranges. Ability to work with and relate to young children and families of diverse backgrounds. Ability to work in harmony with administrative, instructional, and non-instructional personnel. Experience in an early childhood setting preferred.
Schedule:
7.5 hours/day, 209 days/year
Salary:
Beginning at $27.77/hour (salary based on education level) Per Head Start Salary Scale
