Full Job Description Position Summary:
The Childhood Development Specialist (CDS) will be responsible for providing information to youth, families and staff on various aspects of youth development, special needs and mental health needs. This position will serve as a resource within the Boys & Girls Club of Pawtucket (Club), providing a variety of short-term services and referrals for youth age 5-18 and their families. The CDS will work with youth to provide individualized support, with their families and in group settings. They should also be knowledgeable of external resources. Part Time Monday-Friday, approximately 20 hours/week, $20/hr.

Social Emotional / Mental Health Support Engage youth in social emotional wellness groups focusing on various topics such as peer relationships, coping skills, teamwork, self-esteem, etc, including Boys & Girls Club of America (BGCA) based curriculums Support youth with individual needs and challenges Behavior Consultation and Management Support staff with youth behaviors and conflict resolution Family Engagement Build family engagement and involvement for youths' needs through family meetings, parent calls (when appropriate) and events Case Management Maintain case files, notes and reports to track youth's progress and areas of growth Training and Staff Development Identify areas with room for growth to present training topics Other Responsibilities Support mission, principles and contribute to a productive work environment Ensure Club programs are inclusive, safe, engaging and compliant with ADA laws Effectively use technology, membership management systems and information management systems to track data Attend meetings when appropriate Engage and participate in supervision as necessary; Club and Clinical Supervision Other related duties as assigned Position Requirements Bachelor's degree in a helping profession; Social Work, Psychology, Special Education, etc. Experience working with school aged youth as well as understanding child and adolescent development Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Compassion and empathy for youth and families with diverse needs and backgrounds Positive working relationships with external providers Professionalism and discretion Ability to maintain confidentiality Demonstrate knowledge and competence related to working with technology Good organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks
