Job Description

Position Summary The After Care Coordinator is responsible for creating a safe, organized, engaging, and welcoming afternoon experience for children and families at Wonderbees Learning Academy. This role helps lead the center through the afternoon transition, including classroom support, staff coordination, maintaining child-to-staff ratios, parent pickup, student transportation, classroom combining, cleaning, and closing procedures. The ideal candidate is dependable, energetic, organized, comfortable leading others, and committed to providing excellent care for children and service to families. Key Responsibilities After-Care Operations Coordinate the daily after-care schedule and afternoon transitions. Ensure classrooms remain within required child-to-staff ratios. Support appropriate classroom combining as enrollment decreases throughout the afternoon. Monitor staffing needs and communicate adjustments to the Director. Ensure children remain actively supervised at all times. Support classrooms as needed during high-volume transition and pickup periods. Student Safety & Supervision Maintain accurate name-to-face attendance and headcounts during all transitions. Ensure children are released only to authorized individuals. Monitor playground, classroom, hallway, and common-area safety. Ensure children have access to water, bathroom/diapering support, and necessary supplies. Immediately communicate accidents, incidents, injuries, or safety concerns to center leadership. Follow all Wonderbees policies and Texas Child Care Licensing requirements. Family Pickup Experience Help create a smooth, organized, and welcoming dismissal experience. Greet families professionally and positively during pickup. Assist with locating and preparing children and their belongings for departure. Communicate basic information regarding the child's afternoon when appropriate. Direct parent concerns, incidents, or sensitive conversations to center leadership. Ensure all children are properly signed out before leaving the center. Staff Leadership Provide direction and support to afternoon staff. Ensure teachers remain actively engaged with children through the end of their shifts. Monitor staff transitions, classroom coverage, and closing assignments. Help ensure staff clock out according to their scheduled shifts. Communicate staffing, performance, or operational concerns to the Director. Closing & Facility Readiness Ensure classrooms complete assigned closing responsibilities. Verify toys, materials, and learning areas are organized for the following day. Ensure tables, high-touch areas, diapering areas, and classroom spaces are cleaned and sanitized. Confirm trash is removed and necessary supplies are restocked. Complete a final walkthrough of classrooms and common areas. Ensure all children have been picked up and properly signed out. Report facility, maintenance, or safety concerns to leadership before leaving. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required. Drivers License/ Clean Driving Record Previous childcare, daycare, preschool, or youth-program experience preferred. Previous leadership or shift-lead experience preferred. Must meet all Texas Child Care Licensing requirements for caregivers. CPR/First Aid certification required or must be obtained within the required timeframe. Must successfully complete required background checks and training. Must be dependable and available to consistently work the assigned afternoon/closing schedule. The employee must be able to perform the physical responsibilities required of a childcare caregiver. What Success Looks Like A successful After Care Coordinator ensures that: Children are safe and properly supervised. Required ratios are maintained. Afternoon classroom transitions happen smoothly. Families receive a warm and efficient pickup experience. Staff understand and complete their afternoon responsibilities. Classrooms are clean, organized, and prepared for the next day. Leadership is immediately informed of safety, staffing, family, or operational concerns. The center ends each day safe, clean, organized, and ready for tomorrow. $11.00 - $13.00 per hour
