As a Child Development Specialist, you'll create a safe, welcoming environment where children can play, learn, build relationships, and develop confidence. What You'll Do As a Child Development Specialist, you will: Lead or assist with daily classroom groups, activities, and routines for young children. Create a safe, nurturing, and welcoming environment where children can learn and play. Use play, creativity, and age-appropriate activities to support children's social-emotional development. Support children who have behavioral, emotional, or developmental needs. Build positive, trusting relationships with children and their parents. Support and coach parents and Center Moms in positive child-guidance techniques. Work closely with Children's Services staff to provide consistent care and support. Observe children's development, track progress, and complete required documentation. Communicate thoughtfully with families and team members about children's needs and progress. Help maintain a clean, organized, welcoming, and safe classroom. What We're Looking For You don't need to have every qualification listed below. Education & Experience A Bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, child development, education, or a related field is preferred, but not required. Relevant experience working with young children, families, behavioral health, or other helping professions is highly valued. Hours & Schedule Part-time, 28 hours per week between the hours of 2:30-4:30 p.m. Mondays; 12:30-7:30 p.m. Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays; and 12:30-5 p.m. Fridays. A commitment of at least one year is desired. Consistency and dependable relationships are especially important to the children we serve. Pay & Benefits $20-22 per hour, based on experience and licensure (experience in early childhood or children's mental health is preferred). A Few Things to Know Before Applying To be successful in this role, applicants must: Non-smoking worksite: no tobacco products allowed. Must be at least 21 years old. Must pass extensive post-offer, pre-employment background check and drug test. Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds, sit on floor, and climb stairs, with the stamina and strength to care for small children appropriately and continuously as required by normal job duties. If in recovery, must have at least 2+ years of continuous sobriety. Must have own reliable transportation, good driving record and be willing to transport clients in own car and agency vehicles occasionally.
