Job Description

We are looking for an upbeat, vaccinated, dependable, energetic, and warm individual who will smile, praise, and actively engage with children throughout the day. Candidates must be reliable and available to work five days per week. The center operates Monday through Friday from 6:30 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. Work schedules and assigned shifts will be determined based on the staffing needs of the center. Applicants must have flexibility to work during these operating hours. Our greatest current need is for a Lead Teacher. To qualify for this position, candidates must have at least six months of experience working in a licensed childcare center. Requirements Have six months of supervised programmatic experience as an assistant teacher; or Have three months of programmatic experience and at least one of the following education backgrounds: a. A one year early childhood certificate from a college or university that consists of at least 30 semester hours; b. A child development credential by an organization listed in § 22.1-289.048 of the Code of Virginia; c. A teaching diploma from an internationally or nationally recognized Montessori organization. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Monitors all children under care while parents are at work. Ensures that children are safe and well-behaved. Completes craft projects and other creative activities with children. Provides snacks and meals for children. Makes sure the daycare center is clean and organized. Provides updates to parents on children's behavior and progress. Comforts children who are homesick or upset. Facilitates activities that help children learn the alphabet and basic reading skills. Feeds, changes, and carries infants at the daycare center. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities. Demonstrates patience and compassion. Exhibits traits of a responsible and attentive person. Demonstrates strong organizational skills. Possesses strong listening skills. Demonstrates ability to communicate effectively with young children. Exhibits ability to think creatively and innovatively when designing activities. Demonstrates strong interpersonal skills. Possesses physical and mental stamina required to oversee young children daily
