As a substitute teacher, you'll step into classrooms across our network of schools in the Greater Seattle Area to provide high-quality care and support ongoing curriculum and routines. Substitutes may be called on for single days or longer stretches, depending on classroom needs. Your energy and adaptability will ensure a seamless continuation of curriculum and classroom routines, fostering a positive environment that supports childhood development and learning. Requirements All applicants must meet the following DCYF (Department of Children, Youth, and Families) requirements prior to hire. No exceptions can be made, as these are required by Washington State licensing for anyone working in a licensed early learning environment. • must show "Cleared" status DCYF Health & Safety trainings : Mandated Reporter (Recognizing and Reporting Child Abuse, Neglect, and Exploitation) Safe Sleep Abusive Head Trauma Families Experiencing Homelessness Disaster and Emergency Preparedness Medication Management and Administration 30-Hour Child Care Basics (Initial STARS Hours) Bloodborne Pathogens Training WA State Food Worker Card Child/Adult/Baby First Aid & CPR certification , including an in-person skills verification component (fully online-only certification does not meet DCYF requirements; hybrid/blended courses with a hands-on session are acceptable) Duties Implement and support curriculum plans aligned with early childhood education standards, including literacy, math, and social-emotional learning.

Prepare and deliver age-appropriate lesson plans that promote active participation and curiosity among children. Manage classroom behavior effectively by applying positive behavior management strategies that encourage cooperation and respect. Maintain a safe, clean, and organized classroom environment conducive to learning and exploration. Communicate regularly with classroom teachers, staff, parents, and guardians to share updates on student progress and classroom activities. Utilize educational technologies such as computers and interactive tools to enhance instruction and engagement. Adapt instructional approaches to meet the diverse needs of students, including those with special needs or autism spectrum disorder, ensuring inclusive participation. Experience Prior experience working with children in early childhood settings such as preschools or daycare centers is required Demonstrated ability in lesson planning, curriculum development, and implementation tailored for young learners. Strong classroom management skills with proven success in behavior management strategies suitable for preschool-aged children. Familiarity with early childhood development principles Experience working with students from diverse cultural backgrounds enhances your ability to foster an inclusive classroom environment. Knowledge of mandated reporting laws, school policies, and confidentiality requirements related to child safety and well-being. Excellent communication skills for effective parent-teacher interactions and teamwork with colleagues.
