This position offers 20-25 hours per week , with a consistent afternoon schedule through our 6:00 PM closing time —perfect for someone looking for steady hours while making a real difference in their community. What You'll Do As an Assistant Teacher, you'll work alongside experienced Lead Teachers to create an engaging classroom where children feel safe, loved, and excited to learn.
Your responsibilities include:
Support the Lead Teacher in implementing our engaging, research-based curriculum. Create a safe, nurturing, and welcoming classroom environment. Build meaningful relationships with children and their families. Encourage children's social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development. Supervise and engage children during learning activities, meals, outdoor play, and transitions. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe classroom. Follow all state licensing regulations and Northstar policies. Work collaboratively with fellow teachers and leadership to provide exceptional care and education. Help create an environment where every child feels valued, supported, and inspired to learn. We're Looking For Someone Who Is... Passionate about working with young children. Reliable, dependable, and eager to be part of a team. Positive, patient, and encouraging. Organized with excellent attention to detail. Comfortable communicating openly and professionally with families and coworkers. Interested in growing a career in early childhood education. Qualifications Must be 18 years of age or older. Ability to speak, read, and write English. Meet Wisconsin Registry/DHS requirements for an Assistant Teacher (or be willing to obtain the necessary qualifications). CPR and First Aid Certification (or willingness to obtain). Must meet all state childcare licensing requirements. Ability to lift up to 40 pounds. Ability to sit, kneel, bend, and actively engage with children throughout the day. Comfortable working both indoors and outdoors. Benefits We believe great teachers deserve great support.
