Job Description

Join Our Team as a Residential Child Care Assistant at New BOCES! Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of children? We're looking for a compassionate and motivated Residential Child Care Assistant to join our team and help us create a positive impact in the lives of children with special care needs. What You'll Do:
Key Responsibilities As a Residential Child Care Assistant, you'll play an essential role in ensuring the well-being and development of our students.
Your responsibilities will include:
  • Assisting assistant cottage managers and residential case managers in creating a safe, clean, and nurturing environment.
  • Supporting students in daily living tasks, such as hygiene, meal preparation, and laundry.
  • Administering first aid and prescription medication (under the guidance of healthcare professionals) and providing medical assistance as needed.
  • Organizing and monitoring activities like games, art, music, and academic reinforcement to help students achieve their Individualized Education Program (I.E.P.) goals.
  • Driving school vehicles to transport students safely to school or field trips.
  • Maintaining cleanliness and safety in residential areas and program equipment.
  • Guiding students in completing their I.E.P. objectives and promoting positive habits.
  • Attending training sessions and meetings to stay informed and prepared for your role.
  • Removing snow to ensure safe travel on sidewalks and entryways.

Skills and Qualifications We're seeking candidates who are dedicated, responsible, and ready to make a meaningful contribution. To succeed in this role, you'll need:
  • A valid driver's license .
  • The ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening and criminal background check .
  • A willingness to work flexible hours, including Saturdays and/or Sundays, with shifts ranging from 8 to 12 hours.
