QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Educational Requirements
  • Must hold a Master's Degree (preferably in core content area). Except as otherwise provided by law, the Academy shall use certificated teachers according to state board rule. Minimum General Requirements
  • Minimum of three years teaching experience.
Serve on the Leadership & Curriculum Committee (upcoming school year). Experience in teaching reading and/or math. Experience administering M-STEP, NWEA and other Initial Reading Assessments and Extensive or diagnostic assessments. Strong understanding of best practices in ELA and/or Math instruction. Possess the ability to model and discuss instructional approaches. Possess the ability to gather and analyze data. Subject to a Criminal Records Check as required by the Academy Board of Directors' Policy and State Law.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential Duties
  • Service all new teachers for a minimum of two years.
Model "Best Practices" of reading in all classrooms at the teacher's invitation or as specified by the administration (based on data). Assist teachers in making a diagnosis of reading strengths and weaknesses and matching these skills with appropriate techniques and materials. Conduct individual and whole group data and instructional dialogue meetings with teachers. Facilitate student growth through differentiated small-group instruction. Responsible for co-overseeing the intervention program, including data-analysis and student placement. Co-Chair the Child Study Team. Supervision and evaluation of intervention paraprofessional staff. Lead staffing adoption and implementation of core literacy program. Provide training to teachers with literacy programs and best practices in cross-curricular connections. Present yearly updates to Board of Directors. Other Duties
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Academy Director.
