Job Description

Literacy Specialist Job Summary Provided leadership and instructional support to improve literacy achievement across grade levels. Collaborated with teachers to implement evidence-based reading and writing instruction, delivered targeted interventions, analyzed student performance data, and supported curriculum development to enhance student outcomes. Key Responsibilities Assessed students' literacy skills using formal and informal assessments to identify instructional needs. Designed and delivered targeted reading and writing interventions for individual students and small groups. Collaborated with classroom teachers to develop and implement evidence-based literacy instruction and differentiated learning strategies. Coached and mentored teachers on best practices in reading, writing, phonics, vocabulary, comprehension, and fluency instruction. Analyzed student assessment data to monitor progress, identify learning gaps, and inform instructional decisions. Assisted in developing and implementing school-wide literacy initiatives aligned with curriculum standards. Supported the implementation of Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) and Response to Intervention (RTI) frameworks. Modeled effective instructional practices and facilitated professional development for educators. Collaborated with administrators, special education staff, English language learner (ELL) teachers, and families to support student literacy growth. Maintained accurate records of student progress and prepared reports to guide instructional planning. Promoted a positive, inclusive learning environment that fostered a lifelong love of reading and writing.
